Above - Andrew stops while skiing by the Logan River on a gorgeous day.
Rosie, Andrew and I spent the last ten days at our cabin in Logan Canyon (Rebekah and Melanie were in school and could not come). We had a great time with many members of our family and took full advantage of the snow. This has been the warmest winter on record for the Pacific Northwest so we haven't even had a chance to cross country ski all year long. We made up for that by skiing for hours each day we were in Utah.
The cabin was a perfect base with great skiing right outside the door. On President's Day Paul, Jill, Kirstie, Sonja and her family; and Rob, Mary and their family all came to spend the day skiing, eating and having fun.
It was snowing on and off all day and it was excellent snow for cross country skiing. Paul, Jill, Kirstie, Rob, Dean, Mary Kate and I went down to the Logan River trail at the mouth of the canyon for an unforgettable experience. The trail is beautiful as it follows the river through some very pretty parts of the canyon. The elevation changes along with the jaw dropping scenery make it a perfect cross country skiing experience. Below are a few photos of that afternoon.

Three brothers -- Brad, Paul and Rob -- stop for a photo.
Wednesday, Marc came up from Provo and we headed back to the Logan River trail with him. We didn't recognize him at first, do you? I'm not sure, but I think they still sell razors in Provo.

Thursday, Andrew and I went out on a perfect sunny day.

I like the cabin even better in the winter than in the summer. We are the only winterized cabin so the peace and solitude are perfect. The wildlife is plentiful as well. In a one hour period we saw two moose, six deer and a bald eagle right by the cabin. In fact, the deer were all over and one created the only negative thing during the whole trip. Friday evening as we descended the canyon at 50 MPH a big deer jumped out and hit the side of the Pilot. Rosie handled it perfectly and did not swerve to avoid him which would have likely caused a serious accident. As you can see below, the deer caused her Pilot some serious damage, but we were all fine and the car can be fixed. It handled the 800 mile trip back to Washington fine.
We had such a great time on this trip that Rosie and I are going back next weekend. Stephen and Emilie are flying in from New York and Marc is coming up from Provo. We will undoubtedly have a wonderful four days in beautiful Logan Canyon. Come and see us if you have a free afternoon or evening.

Maybe I will come up sometime during you stay. I haven't seen Stephen in over two years. Way to long!
