Snow in Enumclaw

It is a rare event for Enumclaw to be covered with snow. While the mountains around us get deluged with snow each winter, we are not so lucky/unlucky.

Saturday we got a few inches of snow. Andrew was elated and he spent almost all day outside sledding, building a fort and having snowball fights. The only one more excited than Andrew about this first taste of winter was Sam. He gets so excited he can hardly control himself, running to and fro with his tail wagging like a wind up toy. He loves to catch snowballs and frolic in the snow. Andrew and his friend James had to put him in the garage at one point because he would not leave them alone.

Sunday morning we woke up to about seven inches of snow. It was gorgeous as the trees were covered with a bright white coating on their deep green. Andrew and I were out taking pictures and shoveling our long driveway early. (It took me two hours and I have been sore since as those muscles don't get used much in my workouts).

There was so much snow that day and the roads so bad that they canceled church. We made the most of it as Rosie went cross country skiing along the White River across from our house. It was another wonderful day in this beautiful place we call home.

One year when I was in Washington holding down the fort, I think Brad and Rosie were picking up Julie from her mission, it snowed while I was there. I remember how beautiful it was! I have a picture of the evergreens around your house covered with snow. Knowing that this is a rarity I feel privlidged that I got to experience it. I'm not sure I got as excited about it as Sam though.

That is so beautiful. I am feeling sad that we won't be there this Christmas. I will really miss all of you. We will have to have multiple phone and video conferences. We have been having winter storms ourselves here in Indiana, but these ones are ice storms. Our entire driveway and sidewalks as well as each and every blade of grass is coated in 1/4 inch of ice. It doesn't sound like a lot but it makes things very slick.

How great that you got to experience snow! I love the way you all ran out to play in it. It reminds me that even though we get snow all the time that we should enjoy it fully. I think I'll go skiing today!
